the wolves violated the Swiss law when they overate the sheeps?!?

"Unbeknownst to the predators, the rampage had exceeded those tolerated under the official quota.

Swiss law allows predators to kill only 35 animals in four months, while in a month, the quota is 25.

However, that limit falls to 15 a month for protected herds, as in the case of the wolves' prey.

Animals violating this law can be shot."

Oh gosh!!! I thought my eyes saw wrong when I skim past this headline... What a weird article?!?

PERFECT Surprise!

OK I'm not going to upload any pictures today... why? Cos somehow or another I lost my "compose in HTML" format. I don't know why and I don't intend to harp on it today. I just want to Blog it out!

Anyway after a day of MC thanks to food poisoning, I'm back to work. Well I thought that it's gonna be same old minus the cool fact that I get to dress down today cos we won some office event again!

Well after lunch, Old fashion bean asked me if I brought my ipod. So I sluggishly said "yes". As I lazily reach out to my ipod, he placed a whole box of "something" on the cubicle divider. Before I can make out what that "something" was, ET started walking towards me and sang "Happy Birthday" to me. HUH!?! (but my birthday isn't today...)

Then, boss suddenly popped her head out of her cubicle and said something too (gosh! I can't recall cos everything happened all at the same time). MK started giving me the impish smile and said,'' that's the reason why I can't get you the rose quartz bracelet." Even Doc G seemed to know what is happening...

GOSH!!! First time! For the first time! I'm totally taken by surprise! hahahaha.. It turned out my delectable and my dearest colleagues has gotten me a TKD ipod player + charger + radio + alarm clock! Woohoo... how cool can it get!!! THEY TOTALLY ROCKZ!

In the past years, I would usually be able to sniff out the possible surprises way before the pressie reach me. But this year! muahaha! I'm glad someone beat me to it! So that I can have a TRUE BLUE Surprise!

I was totally dumbfounded. I hadn't even mentioned this "want" of mine to anybody except CY and YS. But well... I changed my mind after I got wall*e. But well this is even better! (though I still love wall*e).

Hmm... Now to showcase my latest darling gadget... Well, it's in slick black. It's very polite and greets me with "Hello" when it's starting up and "Bye" when it's shutting down. (Old fashion bean actually thought I went bonkers with joy when I mirrored a high pitch "Hello" to my latest gadget... duh!).

Did I mention that it has a remote control. YES! it can control the songs from the ipod remotely from my bed or else where as long as I can see the menu on the ipod.

It has a radio too! So cool! Cos ipod is definitely short of that on it's own. This way, I can also tune into the latest songs when I get sick of those in my ipod. harhar... I'm lovin' it already!

Yes there's an alarm clock too.. But I think I will skip this function cos I don't wanna send a deadly "karate chop" my latest darling gadget to death with my daily morning wrestle.

Well, I'm sure there are much more functions waiting for me to discover them.... Which I will! Slowly...

In the meantime, I wanna thank Old fashion bean and fiz for coming up with this idea and turning the whole of Singapore upside down to get this wonderful gift! I wanna thank boss for generously letting out your precious vouchers so that this purchase is possible! I wanna thank ET for singing me the beautiful birthday song! It's one of the sweetest song I've ever heard! (I'm serious. NO Kidding!) I wanna thank MK, Beloved Little face, Doc G and R for making this gift so so so possible! I'm SO TOUCHED!!!!!! Like in my earlier email, you all WOW-ed me to tears! Muchas Gracias!!!! Love ya all... MUACKZ!

Forgetful Dory NO MORE

I just can't help feeling like Dory in "Finding Nemo" recently. Especially after the recent "burning midnight oil" session to complete the presentation.

Too many brain cells must have been sacrificed. DUH. Or was it just that I'm aging???

Anyway I decided not to leave things to fate. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

So I went to the pharmacy and bought GINGKO essence tablet! :)

What's wrong?!?

Gosh! The human brain is indeed a super duper complicated organ. Everyday it just hit me," What's wrong?" with these people?

- How can people be so contented to stay in the middle of the bus and cement themselves there when there's obviously a major human jam happening at the front of the bus thanks to them?
=> There must be a ghost at the back of the bus!

-How can people sit so comfortably beside a heavily pregnant woman who is desperately trying to maintain her balance while standing in a moving bus/ MRT?
=> Maybe they do not know that there is a baby growing inside a pregnant lady...

- How can people just blast off their mouth at anybody at the other end of the phone eventhough they knew that they grossly wrong?
=> They definitely are not aware of Karma!

- How can people just tai-chi their responsibilities away and still shoot off at the innocent?
=> Again, they are illiterate about Karma! gosh! someone please save them from their stupidity!

- How can people who are irresponsible, immature and incompetent still announce that they are the Best in the entire world?
=> They need a mirror!

Wa lau... I can go on and on but that will probably not change a single thing. Day in day out, I see these people sashay around me. But one thing is for sure: I will confirm + chop be damn miserable if I continue to be upset by these people. So I have decided!!!! I will change my own mentality and I will definitely NOT be like these people... Some day Karma will put everybody in their own place. SO I should seriously just take care of my own Karma before it takes care of me...

Awake!

I was actually planning to blog about my recent eye-opener at Butterfactory or even my Girl's night out with Jean, Mau, Chui and CY but i decided to blog about why I'm still up at this unearthly hour.

GOSH!!! I had a cup of Hot Honey Green Tea at Cha Chan Tin so that I can snooze properly tonight. But Ma sms me to remind me to drink the pot of Chinese Herbal Soup that she specially brewed for me- WOW it's not everyday that I get such privilege. I had to Thank my dearest Zen Auntie for opening the tiny purple clay slow cooker which Ma won at a lucky draw some months/ years back.

I like the idea of returning home with a bowl of hot soup waiting for you- very cheena right? YA. I never deny that I'm old-school ma... Stuff cooked from purple clay is good stuff too. Touch of tradition in a modern way. Anyway I dutifully drank the pot of black liquid. As I was thinking to myself if it would have been too heaty for me, I had already finished the deed.

Then I treated myself to some ME-time by reading this book "Speaking with the angel" by Nick Hornby with my good old Sony Ericsson playing emo music in the background.- Totally in the mood for some serious sleeping. As planned, I slowly drifted to sleep. BUT I only managed to DRIFT but not exactly SLEEP. GOSH!!!! My precious sleep has been robbed from me since last week. About the same time, an irritating migraine developed and refused to leave me.

I felt a trickling sensation all over my body. Then I felt IT! - HEAT. I hate to say it but I'm feeling super peck chek now cos I'm dying to sleep and rest my tired mind and wretched body but I can't. I think the black liquid has performed it's function- Improve the blood circulation. BUT by doing so, it has generated heat and the trickling sensation and WORSE Kept me awake against my will. I should have taken it in the morning as a caffeine shot or something. ARGH..................................... Hopefully by the end of this post, I would have feel better and able to resume my beauty sleep like the little girl below:

What you find in a restaurant and a tea cup...

Finally met JJ, GI, E and ling for a meal. Haha we went to this Spanish/ Mexican restaurant in town and *burnt our pockets for the meal. (*The theory of demand and supply worked perfectly well here, when there is scarcity, the price is exorbitant!)

Anyway it was good meeting these ladies. The meal was so-so but I was more amused by someone else in the restaurant.

GI and the gang kept elbowing me to check out this BIG lady who was super voluptuous. So weird right?!? Usually I would expect this kind of enthusiasm from my brudders or Tlam or Fiz. But from 4 equally well-endowed ladies? (*scratch head*) Well, it didn't took me a long time to find out why. They were actually impressed by the immense self-confidence that this big lady exuded when she wore her deep V proudly. True enough, usually the beauty of one is actually the reflection of your own self confidence. Side-track: Looking back now, I realised I was the only "Airport" last night. But who cares!!! muahaha!

Well, after failing to scream-chat with the ladies in the heavily "live-band"ed restaurant, we retreat to a quieter setting for tea. I was hoarse by then. This was when Ling pointed out something interesting to me!

Simi?!? ( Hot Tea + Smiley Face = Time) Hmm... I guess, it's something like that : Take a break, have tea :) Anyway, there were more picto-formula for other tea cups... something to ponder when you are drinking tea...

Piggy scare

As I just returned from US, I'm constantly under the suspicion that I might be a carrier of the piggy flu with no symptom. Paranoid I guess. Regardless, I religiously monitored my temperature- no fever. Wore a mask when YS and CY came to visit me.. (Ya I looked like a terrorist, according to YS...) But I had a bad sore throat which later became a runny nose and cough on the 7th day since my arrival- I almost went berserk!

Anyway although I recovered from the runny nose, the cough stubbornly refused to go away. When I went back to work on Monday, I was totally taken aback by the situation in the office. The entire office is now coughing and sneezing... GOSH! I'm almost 1000% I'm the CARRIER... Although my boss and colleagues painstakingly told me otherwise. (Oh they are SOOO SWEET and Trusty of me...)

Anyway, silly me literally JUMPED at every cough and sneeze- AIYO!!! So since I cannot concentrate on my work without noticing the cough/ sneeze and going around asking, " HUH! Did you get this cough/sneeze before my return???", I took time off to see the company doctor...

Guess what the doctor said????

1) piggy flu's incubation period is 3-4days- You are WAYYYYYY passed it.

2) No fever? - Even more sure...

3) Overtime the moment you are back to work?- Your immunity to local flu is down

Conclusion: You came back to Singapore and caught the local flu instead.... What an irony....

DUH!!!! I almost cried out of relief man... Yippie!!!!!! I can finally spare my heart the unnecessary stress...

Clean UP!!!

Spoken with YS early last morning and she gave me a piece of advice:
Clean up your room
.

I felt a wave of procrastination swept all over me.

Guess how did I reply her? Hee.. I told her,
" hmm.. but I'm not a Capricorn like you..."
(in my opinion Capricorns are super uber systematic, and YS is a excellent example of a systematic clean up person)
. I think YS gave up on me immediately...

Well, I did force myself to tidy a portion of my wardrobe after that.. (that's a good start isn't it?!?
).

Just to add: I also cleared half of my mountain of snail mails... (that's a LOT ok...) Well, that sums up my total effort to clean up the room yesterday and I happily went to bed.

This morning, I was awoken by CY's call... I spent most of the conversation with my eyes closed and when I finally opened my eyes... I saw:

GOSH!!! My room= a pigsty. SHUCKS! I'm officially an oink-oink now... All the post-vacation fats accumulation and now my room has remodelled itself overnight to suit my new look!?! OF course it did not happen overnight.

As I scrutinise my pigsty, I realised that my room looked different in daylight and in moonlight. Apparently the morning daylight has allowed me to see the heap of crap on my keyboard and my supposedly computer table, a molehill of washed laundry amongst my bags (waiting for the past month to be packed into the wardrobe) etc...

so I spent the whole day like this..

NOT!!!!!! nah... I wish ah! but in reality i looked more like this auntie below...
Morale of the story: Always listen to YS and clean up the room...

Music is THE universal language

I just love languages and music... Friends know that I have a voracious appetite for music (Remember my Korean craze...) A month ago, in the attempt to brush up my Spanish, I've turned to music for help.

With my very limited Spanish, I conjured these 3 words:
"Aqui"= Here "Yo Estoy"= I am and viola! It brought me to this MTV in YouTube and guess what! I've totally AMOR it! The music and the lyrics... Enjoy :)

I loved it so much... I pestered Marian to bring me to buy this album in El Paso. Marian recommended Wal-Mart- hmm a very unlikely choice in my opinion. But she was right! CDs were impossibly cheap there. Much cheaper than those in CD Rama.

She was such a darling. As we were choosing which albums to get, she subconsciously gave a me a remedial lesson on Spanish! I felt that I learnt more Spanish than I ever did in class... (it must be the Spanish speaking environment.)

After an afternoon in Walmart. I finally made my purchase on
Luis Foni's Palabras Del Silencio ="Words Of The Silence" (OF COURSE! I flew half a globe to get that!)

Julieta Venegas's Si= "YES"

I told Marian that I like soft rock and she recommended this Grammy awards winner album.
Apparently Julieta Venegas is a Mexican alt-rocker, so it's quite a sight to see her posed demurely in a wedding dress, against a pink background, on the cover of Si.

Maná's Arde El Cielo = "the sky burns"
(Marian taught me that the stress was supposed to be on "NA" as the sign was above "a" so in Hanyu pinyu it sounds something like ma1 na4)

Marian's favourite band...

Kids say the darnest thing!

thanks to Ling, I had the rare opportunity to be
the ambassador of Singapore to the kids from <=Lincoln Middle School during my
vacation in US.

<=Wow they even had a street named after our country. :)
ok i side-tracked...

Anyways, we started off at 7+am to Lincoln Middle School.Ling has "warned" me a little about the American school culture so I found myself a little jittery during our drive there... (all the horrible scenes from the American High School dramas were just replaying inside my mind...)

Well, apparently I was being over-paranoid.

When I reached the classroom, I remembered awkwardly presenting my hand for a formal handshake (well, that was the international right thing to do isn't it?). Ha... But warm and fuzzy Ms Munoz (teacher) just went straight to give me a big bear hug... That hug definitely quelled my jitters.
<= Me warming up to the American culture with Ms Munoz :)

Ling quickly got started with the Powerpoint presentation on Singapore (Thank GOD! cos i hadn't had time to prepare anything since i left in a rush).

Halfway through our presentation on the infamous topic on the chewing gum ban, a smart alec questioned us about the authenticity of the statement as he read in Youth Geographics that the ban was lifted in 2001.
HUH! (now, we are really awake!)

Luckily we managed to salvage the situation with the explanation that only certain gums like nicotine gums or oral medical gums are allowed. Which later i checked, HENG AH! My memory served me right...

There was also a part where my worst fears happened... The kids asked me about the significance of the crescent and stars on my flag. SHUCKS!i forgot!!!!!
Ling tried to help me by saying that the crescent signify an Islamic country... Which luckily i remembered that it's NOT and quickly corrected the statement. Cos for our country, the crescent means a young country. PHEW!!! (but thanks Ling!) Well, the stars totally got me dumbfounded... (I clearly need more gingko nuts...)

Kids: Do you have any actors from Singapore???
Me: Of course we have (but who?!?)
Kids: Name us one....
Me: Erm... (i'd never imagine that i will have to thank her one day) Fann Wong from Shanghai Noon.
Kids: OHHH... (GOSH she is indeed global!!!!)

THANK YOU FANN for helping us earn a place in Hollywoods.

We presented to 2 different classes and the experience was AWESOME!!! Yes Kids do say the darnest things.. But I loved em!

They totally LOVED the postcards and keychains that I specially bought in Singapore...

One group picture for momento sake!!!!
Where's me???

The kids had to fill up a feedback form before we leave and this is one of them... Ow... aren't they sweet...

Finally on blogspot!

finally!!! after failing (like a million times) to upload any picture on my previous blog, I've finally heeded ling's advice to set up one on blogspot. anyways... i need to get started on a first topic...

wall-e speaker shall be it!

it was love at first sight at Yukiko's graduation party! (even momo agreed...)

then there was a sign from the fortune cookie I had during lunch:

seriously, i didn't think much about the note other then the fact that i should really try my hands on the 6million El Paso Lottery... (which i did buy)

well this is the outlet, and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do at the outlet: SHOP!!! (duh! what else???) anyway, i totally "worked" myself out at New Balance and the Adidas until I accidentally bumped into Belle then did i realise that i've hit the Disney Store...

thanks to the swine, i missed my chance to visit the real Disney store in Anaheim. whichever the case... it was a pleasant bump! :)

anyway, Ling and I went "LET's GO!" and quickly checked out the store.

Ling found herself instantly busy with the "class of 2009" Mickeys, Minnies and other soft toys so i roamed to the other end of the store...

then LO and BEHOLD! something caught my eye.... wall-e

ERM...but this wall-e looks a wee-bit different from the one i saw in Yukiko's house. Hmm... a little chuckier than i remembered...then as i frantically examined this wall-e i found the answer:
aiya! alarm clock not speaker leh... But i was surprisingly encouraged by this find. I thought that it MUST BE a sign that my speaker wall-e is near...

well, like the taiwanese serial suggest: 轉角*遇到愛》, I found my wall-e speaker right at a turn!

Needless to say...I bought it! and there it is! posing with Ling's bro (Zunhan's) transformer speaker... Muahahaha... all the celebrity speakers in the house unite!!!
